Thomas Zekveld

Serving Bowmanville—Oshawa North with Better Solutions.

Thomas Zekveld is a young man, passionate about his faith, family, and country.

Thomas grew up on a small farm near Bowmanville, where he learned the value of hard work. This characteristic helped him to graduate with a degree in agriculture at the University of Guelph. While at university, Thomas met and married his wife, Hannah. They have been blessed with their son Jethro in 2024.

Today, Thomas is working on his family's local farm. His time spent in both rural and urban Ontario gives him a unique perspective on the future of our riding. He is eager to use his knowledge and experience serving the people of Bowmanville-Oshawa North as our Member of Parliament.

Thomas is running for the Christian Heritage Party because the mainline parties have stopped focusing on truth, integrity, and the Canadian people. He looks forward to sharing with you the Christian Heritage Party's foundational principles on life, family and freedom.

Elect Thomas Zekveld for Bowmanville-Oshawa North.

LIFE

The CHP believes that promoting life is key to a thriving country. The federal government can pass legislation to promote life and family or destroy it. Life begins at conception and is precious till natural death. A baby in the womb even at a few cells is growing.

This growth shows life, and thus when an abortion ends this growth, there is death. For the past 37 years Canada has had no law preventing a baby from being killed before they have been born. During these 37 years, 4 million babies have died at the hands of abortion. 101,553 of those babies died in 2023 (Canadian Institute for Health Information).

FAIR TAX

Federal income tax takes between 15-33% of Canadian’s pay cheques. By doing this the government is discouraging Canadians from working hard. Why should someone want to work overtime when they get taxed even more on those hours?

Canada’s current income tax laws need to change. The Christian Heritage Party has the solution.

Fair tax policy would remove Federal income tax, letting workers keep their earnings. The income tax would be replaced by a consumer’s tax. Lower-income Canadians will not have as much tax burden since they have low budgets. Meanwhile, higher-income Canadians would tend spend more money, thus paying more tax.

HOUSING

Since 2016, the cost to buy the average Canadian home increased just over $200,000. In the Bowmanville-Oshawa North area, prices have nearly doubled from $475,000 up to $870,000. There is a housing shortage across Canada, and this is causing the market to become more and more expensive. This housing issue is very complex and needs a multifaceted response

Christian Heritage Party believes that the first direct step is to reduce foreign investor housing purchases. Housing is useful as an investment, but is primarily intended for living in. Foreign investors add more buyers to the market and outbid young families looking for homes. By reducing foreign buyers, the market will stabilize at more affordable prices and allow more families to be homeowners instead of home renters.
